Seattle's Experience Music Project (EMP) Hosts All-Star Tribute Concert In Celebration of Jimi Hendrix's 60th Birthday

Heralded as the most innovative guitarist the world has ever known, the music of Jimi Hendrix will once again come to life as Experience Hendrix and Experience Music Project host an all-star musical tribute to mark the 60th Anniversary of the guitarist's birth.

Following closely on the heels of the recent co-production project with Experience Music Project for the new Cite de la Musique museum in Paris, France, Experience Hendrix is pleased to once again team together with Seattle's Experience Music Project to host this very special event. "We are excited to be able to work with EMP in this very special celebration," explains Janie Hendrix. "EMP's Sky Church is a unique environment that helps to present one example of Jimi's unified approach to creating music. It's a very colorful and comforting place where musicians from all walks of life and musical backgrounds can come together and play music for everyone to enjoy."

Scheduled for Sunday, November 24, 2002 from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., musicians from a variety of differing genres will gather at EMP's Sky Church to pay homage to the undisputed king of the electric guitar - Jimi Hendrix. The evening of music will be highlighted with special appearances by original Band Of Gypsys' members Billy Cox and Buddy Miles plus legendary Chicago blues guitarist, Buddy Guy. In addition to this trio of celebrated musicians, the Jimi Hendrix 60th Birthday Tribute concert will also play host to the likes of guitarist Eric Gales, Indigenous, Kid Rock guitarist Kenny Olson, former Earth Wind & Fire guitarist Sheldon Reynolds, guitarist John Graham, and keyboardist Larry Dunn, former Rufus and Chaka Khan bassist Bobby Watson plus many others.

Following in the same spirit of Experience Hendrix's past all-star musical tributes at San Diego's Street Scene and the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, the 60th Birthday Tribute presents a rare, talent-packed celebration to the life and music of Jimi Hendrix.
